Dimitri Kitanov, Skopje
I raised two children. I schooled them. I organized two weddings. I became the grandfather of four grandchildren. In my old age, I thought of building a small house for me and my wife, so that we could leave the young alone. I had saved money on the side, and in the beginning, all the construction costs could be covered.
However, after construction began, my wife decided that she wanted a more modern exterior for the house. Of course, her wish was not included in the calculations. “What now?” I asked myself. After so many years of work, don’t we deserve to spend a little more than what we can afford? I said to myself, “I’m going to take out a loan, a facade has to be made.”
I was wondering where I would get the job done faster and without a complicated procedure. Since my status as a military invalid, a retiree, was confusing for most financial institutions, and they did not know in which category to put me for a loan, I began to lose hope in fulfilling my wife’s wish. And then, like a small dot of light in the dark, my granddaughter told me that FULM Savings House was my salvation. Less than three days after the documents were filed, the phone rang: “Mr. Dimitri, your loan has been approved. Come to the branch to withdraw your loan!”
A huge weight has been lifted off of my chest. It was not so much about the facade but the fact that I fulfilled my wife’s wish. She was right. Luckily I listened to her. We will repay the loan one day, but the memories made in the nicely decorated house, with every cup of coffee beside my grandchildren are invaluable. We will forget about the debt, but we will never forget such moments. Thanks to FULM, my wife is happy and the facade turned out great.
